Position Overview:
As a 2nd to 4th Year Apprentice Electrician, you will assist in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in commercial and industrial environments under the supervision of licensed electricians. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals eager to learn and develop their skills in a dynamic work environment. You will gain valuable on-the-job training in projects such as building management systems (BMS), HVAC controls, energy management systems, and low voltage systems, with exposure to electrical installation, troubleshooting, and diagnostics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to understand project requirements
- Utilize hand tools and power tools safely and effectively in various electrical tasks
- Support experienced electricians in troubleshooting electrical issues and performing diagnostics
- Participate in the installation of low voltage systems and building automation controls as needed
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring all tools and materials are properly stored
- Follow safety protocols and adhere to local electrical codes during all tasks
Qualifications & Skills:
- Must be registered with SkilledTradesBC as a 2nd to 4th year apprentice electrician
- Basic understanding of electrical installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and schematics interpretation
- Familiarity with hand tools and power tools used in electrical work
- Strong safety awareness and commitment to safety standards
- Willingness to learn about low voltage systems, building management systems, and HVAC controls
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Valid BC Driver’s License and a clean Driver’s Abstract (employee responsible for associated fees)
- Flexibility to work at various job sites within Kamloops and surrounding regions
